Mongolia, a territory divided between Afghanistan, India and China, is a region with wide temperature fluctuations. These rigid temperatures allow the production of this wonderful cashmere. Here, in fact, lives the traditional breeding of Hyrcus goats that repeats year after year transhumance and rituals to respond to the impervious natural conditions of the region.

The fibres that give life to this Cashmere have a very fine micronisation, between 14 and 15 microns, giving the yarn an unrivalled softness. Scientific research has revealed that this reduced thickness hides an ‘air chamber’ that naturally produces the functions of thermo-regulation and thermo-transpiration.

The harvesting of these precious fibres is a response to the sensitive relationship that man has developed with such a strong and tenacious nature: in spring, when the climate becomes milder, shepherds harvest the undercoat from Hyrcus goats by ‘combing’, a process that is completely harmless to the animals. Combing, in fact, is done by stroking the goat with a small comb in the chin and girth areas only, where the fibres are denser, denser and softer.

One of the reasons for the very high quality lies in the very small quantity of the highest quality fibre. Suffice it to say that from a single Hyrcus goat, approximately 150-200 grams of undercoat are obtained each year.
