Maglificio di Verona Supports SAPRE Through Its Gift Packaging

Maglificio di Verona Supports SAPRE Through Its Gift Packaging

Some gestures may seem small, but they can reach much further than we imagine.

A gift package is created to hold something chosen for someone we care about. It contains the anticipation, the surprise and the thoughtfulness behind selecting something for another person.

At Maglificio di Verona, we decided to give this gesture an additional meaning.

All proceeds from our gift packaging are donated to support SAPRE projects, dedicated to children and young people with SMA and similar neuromuscular conditions, as well as their families.

In this way, every gift package chosen by our customers becomes a gift within a gift: it makes what it contains even more special while also contributing directly to activities dedicated to education, independence, inclusion and the everyday lives of families.

What Is SAPRE?

SAPRE is the Early Parent Empowerment Service, a public service with direct access operating within the Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry Department of Policlinico di Milano.

For over thirty years, it has met, trained and supported parents from the moment their child or young person is diagnosed with SMA, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, or similar neuromuscular conditions. Its work also involves people close to the family, providing knowledge, tools and strategies to help them approach everyday life with greater competence and awareness.

SAPRE is therefore not an association, but a specialised public service centred on the child, the parents and the entire family.

Putting the Family at the Centre

Receiving a diagnosis of a neuromuscular condition can profoundly change a family’s everyday life.

Alongside healthcare considerations, many practical questions arise: how to organise life at home, how to manage assistive devices, how to deal with travel, how to support the child’s independence and how to preserve one’s role as a parent and educator.

SAPRE intervenes from the earliest stages to help parents and family members acquire practical knowledge and skills.

Through the Early Parent Empowerment Programme, the multidisciplinary team supports families through a personalised pathway with several objectives:

  • increase knowledge of the condition;

  • provide theoretical and practical strategies for everyday life;

  • support family resilience;

  • encourage freedom of choice and self-determination;

  • prepare parents to manage ordinary and extraordinary situations even away from the hospital environment;

  • strengthen the resources already present within the family.

The principle behind the programme is not to replace parents, but to enable them to fulfil their role with greater confidence, awareness and independence.

Not Just Assistance, but Possibilities

SAPRE’s work is not limited to healthcare or assistance.

The service also promotes opportunities to meet, shared experiences and activities through which children, young people and families can exchange ideas, build relationships and experience new forms of independence.

This vision led to the creation of the #SIPUOFARE projects, designed to:

  • create networks among families;

  • encourage the exchange of experiences;

  • promote inclusive activities;

  • enhance each participant’s abilities and resources;

  • support self-determination and self-confidence;

  • rethink spaces and activities so they can be accessible to more people;

  • offer opportunities for well-being and sharing outside the hospital environment too.

The message behind these initiatives is clear: not to stop at what seems impossible, but to find new paths and possibilities together.

The #SIPUOFARE Projects

Among the activities promoted by SAPRE are residential experiences, outdoor initiatives and opportunities for children, young people, parents and siblings to come together.

One of the most representative projects is “Mio figlio ha una 4 ruote”, a theoretical and practical programme for families with children and young people who use a manual or powered wheelchair.

During the experience, families and professionals share activities, knowledge and strategies for approaching real-life situations with greater independence.

The programme is also a space in which to build relationships, exchange experiences with other families and explore what can become possible when environments, activities and organisation are designed to be truly inclusive.

Over time, other initiatives have been created alongside this project, including SMAWALK and Venezia a 4 Ruote, together with activities dedicated to communication, social interaction and participants’ well-being.

Why We Chose to Support SAPRE

Every day, Maglificio di Verona creates garments for babies, children and their families.

Our work begins with care: the care with which we select our yarns, develop each style, check every stage of production and prepare what will eventually arrive in our customers’ homes.

Supporting SAPRE means extending this care beyond knitwear.

We recognised in its work values that we deeply believe in:

  • putting the family at the centre;

  • the importance of knowledge;

  • the value of independence;

  • sharing experiences;

  • building a network people can rely on;

  • the right of children and young people to experience opportunities, relationships and possibilities.

SAPRE does not describe families through what they lack, but works with their skills, resources and what can be built together.

It is precisely this practical and respectful vision that convinced us to support its projects.

How Our Initiative Works

When you place an order on the Maglificio di Verona website, you can choose to add gift packaging.

All proceeds from the gift packaging are donated to support SAPRE activities and projects.

The garment you purchase is prepared with the same care as always, but the value of the packaging takes on an additional meaning.

There is no need to make a separate donation or follow a special procedure: simply select the gift packaging when placing your order.

The contribution from each individual package may seem small. When combined with the contributions of everyone who takes part, however, it becomes tangible support.

Our Contribution in 2025

Transparency is an important part of this project.

For this reason, every year we want to share the result achieved thanks to everyone who chose our gift packaging.

In 2025, we donated €1,209.09 to support SAPRE projects.

This result was made possible by every customer who decided to add gift packaging to their order.

Behind this figure are many small gestures: gifts prepared for a birth, a birthday, Christmas or a special moment. Different gestures that, together, helped support a project dedicated to children, young people and their families.

Our sincerest thanks go to everyone who took part.

SAPRE Donation 2025

An Ongoing Commitment

Our relationship with SAPRE is not intended to be a collaboration mentioned only once.

We will continue to donate the proceeds from our gift packaging to its projects and update this page with the results of the fundraising initiative.

In this way, every customer will be able to learn about:

  • the project being supported;

  • how the initiative works;

  • the total amount raised;

  • the result made possible by the participation of so many families.

We believe that clearly communicating how donations are used is the right way to respect the trust of everyone who chooses to contribute.

One Package Holding Two Gifts

When we prepare a gift, we think first and foremost about the person who will receive it.

We choose the garment, imagine the moment it will be opened and entrust that package with a message of affection.

Thanks to this initiative, the gesture can reach even further.

The package holds the gift intended for someone we care about while also helping support children, young people and families working towards a more independent, informed and inclusive everyday life.

It is not the value of each individual contribution that makes the difference, but the possibility of bringing many small gestures together around a shared goal.

Gift Packaging Designed to Be Reused

Our gift packaging is not designed to be used only once.

We chose a simple, carefully designed solution created to hold the garment when it is given and to be kept and reused afterwards. It can become a container for small garments, accessories or a child’s keepsakes, extending its purpose beyond the moment when the gift is opened.

For us, caring for a gift also means considering how it is presented: simple, practical packaging that can hold two gestures at once — one for the person receiving it and one for the SAPRE projects.
